Protip: trying to wash away blood with hot/warm water can have the reverse effect and make the stain set in harder. Use only cold water.
Also hydrogen peroxide is fantastic at removing blood from just about anything.
And as always get to work on that stain as soon as possible, blood stains can be very persistent once they've been allowed to set in. This is important enough to mention twice, get to work on that stain fast!

I've never tried salt before myself. I'll have to try it some day.
